Blogging success

Much depends upon how you define success. Many bloggers are successful in "financial" terms and manage to make a living through blogging. Good luck to him. For others, blogs provide a "therapeutic" outlet, like a diary. Other people have a message.

If you ask bloggers why they do what they do, their "responses" often reflect their mixed motivations. Afterall it is a fairly recent phenomenon. Often bloggers band together, like a little club, either collected by "subject," a special interest group, or "type," where people have perhaps broader, but similar interests or stage of life.

Whatever your intentions were initially, from my short experience, I can tell you with some degree of confidence, that they change as knowledge and experience grow. Before you know it, it has merely become a journey, where you beetle about the blogosphere to share. Some might say that you make 'contacts,' but I think maybe the word 'connections,' would be a better way to describe the chemistry that sometimes bubbles up when you meet a 'fellow' in the ether.

There are many ways that one can choose to fritter away one's time, no matter how much or little you have available to you, but of the limited choices that some of us have, this seems both a harmless and positive way to be idle.

I don't think I could honestly pinpoint an answer as to why I blog - well, other than that I have no life so I might as well spend my time doing something semi-productive! Of course, I'm not really sure exactly how productive it is either!

I have made some wonderful connections through my blog, though, and have "met" people all over the world that I never would have been able to meet before were it not for the Internet and the Blogosphere. Heck, I didn't even know there was such a thing as the Blogosphere until a few months ago!

I agree with you! I have found such wonderful people through this experience. I have also shared some things here that I might not have had the courage to do in the "real" world!

I agree with you also. We don't have that many families in our "area" with children with autism. I have found an emotional social network through blogging that our family desperately needed to know that we are not alone in this fight :)

Have a great day!

I know why I started at least: basically as a way of letting the folk back home know what we were getting up to.

However, the "why" has changed several times since then.

One thing's for sure: if anyone sits down and thinks to themselves that they'll make a fortune on their blog, it'll take a looooong time!

I agree, with the idea of it being a connection.

The main reason I started was to put something out there that showed a less than perfect American family. I saw so many Mommy blogs that only showed the perfect, American Dream parts of their lives...at first I was thinking, "What is wrong with us??? We are nothing like these 'normal' families!" But, I know it can't all possibly be milk and honey.

I have never claimed, nor wanted to be 'June Cleaver', my husband certainly is not 'Daddy Knows Best', and my kids??? Far, far from the 'Brady Bunch'...yet the perfect case study for proving that ADHD is genetic! Then add on all of my son's other issues...my family is the recipe for chaotic living.

So...I decided to put a "real family" out there. The good, the bad, the ugly, the depression, the isolation, the tears of joy when someone tells you that no, you are not a bad mother and I am here to help. Along with the doctor who actually told me I was a bad mother and cared more about my special needs son than I did my asthmatic daughter. And even though I know he could not be more wrong, that really threw me for a loop for days.

ANYWAY...the reason why I shy away from leaving comments is because they turn into novels! lol!...if ONE mom reads my blog and thinks, "Hey! I'm not the only one!", and it helps her in the most minute way, I will have achieved my goal.
